Flat Stanley returns!

Flat Stanley has had quite an adventure. He just returned home for a few days r&r before he heads out into the great wide world again. Stanley went home with GG for a visit first. She took him out to Great Grandma and Grandpa Horejs' house for a special adventure. I am going to write it out exactly as Grandpa and Grandma wrote it for your perusal.

"The Wounded Deer"
One day while Stanley was visiting GG, Grandpa Horejs called to see if GG could come over and help him treat a wounded deer. GG said she would play nurse, so she gathered together some material, bandages and medical supplies and Stanley and they went to help Grandpa treat the deer. When they arrived, they found Grandpa out by the fence quieting the wounded deer. They learned that the deer had tried to leap over the barbed wire fence and had caught its hind leg in the wire and in its struggle to free itself it had seriously damaged its legs and was bleeding badly. So Stanley helped Grandpa quiet the deer while GG performed first aid to stop the bleeding. Then they hauled the little critter to the barn where he would be safe from the coyotes. Then Grandpa called the Fish and Game to tell them what happened. The Fish and Game sent an officer out to check. He decided that the deer needed more help so he loaded it in his truck and hauled it off to the departments care center where it would be taken care of. - grandpa horejs

Stanley then went to Grandpa's chiropractic office for his first adjustment! Grandpa reminded Stanley that care of the spine is so important because every nerve that goes to the organs in your body passes through the spinal column. Pinched nerves or spinal subluxations can cause nerve damage. Grandpa helps people feel better.

The photo is of Grandma Nancy (our adopted grandma) getting her adjustment to show Stanley what it's all about.

Stanley was able to see the new temple site for the Twin Falls LDS temple. GG and Grandpa are so excited about the temple. It is only ten minutes away from their house. It will be finished in Spring of 2008. Stanley learned that in the temple families are bound together for eternity.

Stanley helped GG with her remodeling project. He learned how to mix mud and lay tile and how to perfatape a wall. GG and Grandpa are buying houses and fixing them up to rent. This is how they will have a retirement income in their later years. They are doing this so that they can serve missions, work in the temple and visit grandchildren. GG reminded Stanley that everything takes planning and this is GG's plan to help prepare for the future. GG has learned so much that it is like getting a college education. She told Stanley to always remember that you can do anything you put your mind to!

Stanley ended his visit with GG and Grandpa by seeing Daddy and the Uncles' christmas concert. He then headed over to vist Great Grandma and Grandpa Williams in Arco Idaho. Grandpa had a stroke and is paralyzed on his left side so he has to sit in a wheelchair most of the time. He is 83 years old. Grandma does a great job taking care of him and makes the world best beans.

Wow what a visit. Stay tuned for Stanley's adventure in California with Gramachele and Aunt Lisa!

a photo of me!

just thought you might want to see a close up of me!

visiting the Grand Ole Opry Hotel

Today we visited the Grand Ole Opry Hotel and took a boat ride. We learned that they have water in the river around the delta area from all 50 states and 30 other countries. There are wood ducks in the river as well. They don't quack they whistle. They also have catfish weighing in anywhere from 15-85 lbs and they are black, white and blue. There were lots of cool flowers and plants. One of the plants got all it's nutrients from the air. Another will last up to 45 days after you cut it. If you put it in water of course. There were three large waterfalls to circulate the water in the river. The dome of glass that you see would cover 7 football fields if you were to lay the glass side by side. We also found out that this hotel is the largest in the US without a casino. funny. After our tour we went to Ben and Jerry's and split an oatmeal cookie ice cream. It's Liam's mom's favorite. It was a great day. Thanks!

Flat Stanley visits Us

Hey there Stanley here. I was just writing a little about my adventure in Nashville. I was able to learn lots more about Nashville and see some fun things at the same time. Liam and Isabelle took me to the Tennessee State Museum. We went there with their mom and Aunt Christy and Cousin Cole. It was great. We went to see the flag old Glory. It was huge. It has been housed in the Smithsonian, but was lent to Tennessee for a time. It is an American Flag that was flown from a ship owned by a man named Williams Driver in the 1820's and 30's. This flag was hidden inside his quilt during the civil war so that confederate sympathizers would not destroy it. When the union army took over Nashville in 1862 Driver brought his flag out of hiding and it was flown over the state capital. It was after this that the nickname "Old Glory" was born.
Our next stop was the Nashville Parthenon. This building is an exact replica of the Parthenon and was errected for the 1897 Centennial Exposition. It was to be taken down following the exposition, but became such an icon, that it was built up to be a permenant structure. It now serves as a museum and houses a 42 foot statue of Athena.
The park there was super cool too. We fed the ducks and walked around the flower gardens. It was great fun.
Our final stop in Nashville for now was the Grand Ole' Opry Hotel. This is an incredible structure. The gardens are so beautiful and you really can't beat a little Ben and Jerry's ice cream to boot.
